Talk Dirty to me, or wormy whatever.

Did you ever eat dirt as a kid? Who am I kid-ding, we all did. But we’re here to talk about the good stuff, a childhood favorite - Oreo Dirt Cups. If you’ve never had these, you my friend have not lived.
These are a little less organic, and a lot more sanitary to consume on a normal given day.. AND you get Oreos AND gummy worms, who created such an artsy masterpiece?

That’s so Cool! This ever so popular chocolatey crème sandwich favorite was born in 1912. The idea had formed from the original creator Nabisco, to form a new cookie. Since the creation of Oreo there’s been 362 BILLION cookies sold making it the “best-selling cookie”. From Slogan’s dating back to as early as 1950 of ‘Oh!, Oh!, Oreo!’ to 'Milk’s Favorite Cookie' for the past 17 years - sold in over 100 countries, and made in 21 bakeries worldwide, this cookie has been around the block.

Let’s grab some basics:

Plastic cups 8oz/ish (preferably see through, so you can see your critter’s new home)
1 package (4 oz) chocolate instant pudding
2 cups cold dairy cow’s milk (2%, skim, any that mixes with pudding)
1 – 8 oz container whipped topping (thawed, just not soup)
1 package 16 oz Snackshop.com Oreos - thins, double stuff, original, etc. (must be crushed and crumbled, our creatures need to move easily through the dirt)
1 package Snackshop.com gummy worms, or even sour neon worms (Albanese, Haribo)

I’ll be honest we have a bunch of other gummy friends who need homes too!

How to craft the edible habitat

Pour the milk into a mixing bowl and add the pudding mix.
Stir with a wire whisk until well blended and arrived at a pudding consistency (2ish minutes)
Stir whipped (thawed not soup) topping into the pudding very gently until is all the same chocolatey color.
Let pudding sit for a few minutes while you crush the Oreos into a dirt/ground texture. (For an easier clean up, crush inside a plastic bag.
Then start filling the bottom of each cup with 1 Tablespoon of crushed cookie.
You can now start adding the pudding layer (2 Tablespoons) to each cup.
Repeat another layer of crushed cookie, followed by pudding, and end once more with crushed cookies.
Place the cups into the refrigerator for about one hour to chill.
Top your ‘dirt’ top off with your squirmy worms! (2-3, so we don’t overcrowd the home)
Last but not least, devour with no regrets.

…You know what they say, early bird gets the worm.
